One of the most recognizable cages is the blue steel
bars of the old WWF. Summerslam '90, Lord Alfred Hayes gave details
on specs. & the assembly of the cage. The Cage is assembled by
a Streamline crew that consists of a Ring Cage Construction Manager,
12 carriers and 5 experienced erectors. The cage itself has 8 sections
weighing each 300lbs, 12 interconnected poles, all together weighing
a shade over 3000lbs. A cage match has two fold purposes, 1st to keep
competetors in the ring, 2nd purpose is to keep anyone from interferring.
WWF cage match rules during the this era were No Holds Barred &
Escape to Win. The rule goes back to the "Blassie
Cage" sometimes called a Shark Cage Match. The first time
the blue cage was at Wrestlemania
II. The storyline reason was so it wouldnt give way if Bundy attempted
to climb out. It was re-enforced. |
