During a match on RAW between Chris Jericho and Rob Van Dam for the Intercontinental Championship, Eric Bischoff’s interference allowed Y2J to capture the Championship. However, Jericho’s reign was very short lived as Steve Austin entered the fray and announced that there would be a second match between the two…this time in a steel cage. RVD did not waste his opportunity and scored the win by escaping the cage and regaining the Intercontinental Championship.
